29.6.2009 The work of Keats, Shelley and Byron has always seemed to be full of meaning for our age. Living as they did as freethinking artists in an age of transition they seem to have an extraordinary connection with the world of pop and rock 'n' roll. And their writings in mortality have come sharply into focus with the death of Michael Jackson. In Adonais Shelley used the Greek myth of Adonis, the talented and beautiful favourite child of the gods brought down in his youth. Keats imagined dying before he had time to fulfil his full potential (in the event he died of TB aged 25). And so Pathfinder Audio is highlighting two songs from our catalogue - 'Adonais' and 'On the Shore' in response to Michael Jackson's passing. Last year we completed our recordings of Romantics lyrics and released 'My Romantics EP' a CD with seven songs (running time 23.36). Details are at the CD/downloads page, together with info about how you can use it with 'The Shelley Story' and 'Lord Byron and the Greek War' to create four other Romantics music compilations.
Also available as a digital download: 'Tibet Will Be Free' by James Cameron and the Glastonbury Street Choir. It includes instrumentation by Brindaband stalwart Dave Eastoe and is in support of the cause of a free Tibet. And in the spirit of supporting the cause of liberal Islam in Britain and Europe on the home page there now appears 'The Oxford Declaration' - a declaration of liberal principles for people from a Muslim background through which they can distance themselves from separatist and fundamentalist ideologies.
All the best, John at Pathfinder Audio
