SUPPORT PLURALISM NOT SEPARATISM , SUPPORT THE OXFORD DECLARATION
We believe the idea of jihad relates to the application of ethical and moral ideals rather than to any form of physical or other form of violence.
We believe that the idea of the infidel or kuf'r found in the Koran should be seen as belonging to the era in which it was formulated, and has no relevance or value for Muslims living in pluralistic societies.
We will not promote in any way the writings of separatist Muslim thinkers such as Syed Qutb, Maulana Mawdudi and others.
We undertake to challenge and confront the ideologies of separatist and jihadist Islamist groups.
We undertake to work for the spiritual and theological development of those involved in such groups, working with their families where possible to prevent the destruction of their lives through their adherence to simplistic theologies.
We undertake to work through democratic mechanisms to achieve desired political and social goals.
We recognize that in circumstances where we are aware that individual Muslims are incorrigibly set on the course of violence we must inform the relevant authorities of our fears.
We endorse the view that the idea of dar al-harb or land of unbelief is unacceptable as a way of perceiving Britain and should be replaced with the idea of the dar al-sulh the land of contract.
We assert the right of freedom of worship, noting that Muslims who choose to adopt another faith should be free to do so.
We assert that the challenges involved in living as a minority faith in a pluralistic society provides a historic opportunity for the renewal and development of our faith.

'Love is like understanding, that grows bright
Gazing on many truths; 'tis like thy light
Imagination! Which .... kills
Error, the worm, with many a sun-like arrow
Of its reverberated lightning. Narrow
The heart that loves, the brain that contemplates
,
The life that wears, the spirit that creates
One object, and one form, and builds thereby
A sepulchre for its eternity...'
